Before the actors can step onto the stage, somebody has to build the world they are performing in.
Our Set Construction team helps create, assemble and safely install the scenery used in our productions.
Depending on the show, this might involve:
building flats, platforms and scenery
assembling doors, windows and furniture
adapting existing set pieces
helping with stage layouts
making sure scenery is secure and safe
dismantling everything again after the final performance
Some members bring practical skills and experience, while others simply come along to lend a hand and learn.
If you’re good with tools, enjoy practical projects or just like being part of a team that can say “We built that!”, we’d love to hear from you.
Kev has been part of the CAST family for decades and is the talented man behind many of our incredible sets.
Lynda’s husband and Tasha’s dad, Kev begins planning and constructing our sets months before the stage itself is even built. From working out how everything will fit and function to building the individual pieces ready for set-build day, an enormous amount of work happens behind the scenes.
His skill, imagination and countless hours of hard work help transform an empty stage into the world of each production.
A very important part of the CAST family — and one of the people who quite literally builds our shows from the ground up.
After more than 30 years with CAST, there really isn’t much Steve doesn’t know about putting on a show.
Whether it’s sets, staging, technical problems, practical jobs or one of those last-minute things that nobody else quite knows how to fix, Steve somehow seems to have the answer.
Steve also served as CAST Chairman for many years and has given an enormous amount of time, knowledge and hard work to the company.
He created and continues to run CAST’s two hugely successful youth theatre groups, helping to encourage and inspire the next generation of performers.
Three decades of experience, endless know-how and an incredible amount of hard work — Steve is a huge part of CAST.
