Rehearsals are where the magic really begins.
This is where a script slowly starts to come to life — characters develop, songs and dances begin to take shape, scenes are blocked and, little by little, a group of people becomes a company.
There is always plenty going on during rehearsals, including:
learning lines
working through scenes and blocking
singing and dancing
developing characters
practising entrances and exits
trying out new ideas
discovering the things that definitely don’t work!
running scenes again and again until everything starts to come together
and, of course, usually plenty of laughter along the way.
As the show gets closer, rehearsals become fuller run-throughs, with music, movement, costumes, props, sound and lighting gradually being brought together.
But rehearsals are about much more than simply putting on a show. They are also where friendships are made, confidence grows and the whole CAST family comes together.
By opening night, all those evenings spent learning, practising, changing things, laughing, getting things wrong and finally getting them right have helped create the production our audience gets to see.
CAST rehearsals are usually held at Colnbrook Village Hall on Mondays at 8:30pm, after Youth Theatre, and Thursdays at 8:00pm. Rehearsals normally finish before 11:00pm.
