Sheila Botevyle was a much-loved member and supporter of CAST, appearing in many productions over the years alongside the support of her husband, Maurice, who became a familiar face front of house at CAST performances.
Sadly, Sheila passed away in May 2010.
In her memory, Maurice and the Botevyle family donated a trophy to CAST to recognise those members who may not necessarily have the leading role, but whose contribution helps make a production special.
The Sheila Botevyle Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to a CAST member who has appeared in an ensemble or cameo role during the previous year.
The award can recognise many different qualities — including performance, enthusiasm, commitment and the contribution a member makes to the production as a whole.
Members are invited to nominate someone they feel deserves recognition, along with the reasons for their choice.
The trophy is a lasting tribute to Sheila and celebrates something that has always been important within CAST: that every role matters, and every member can make a difference to a show.
