Following the AGM on 6th August, we are pleased to announce our programme of shows for the coming year.
Things will kick-off this week with 'Camelot the Panto', a traditional pantomime adventure, directed by Steve Oakes, and featuring heroes and villains, princes and princesses, our Dame, an invisible knight, a giant teddy, (and no doubt a nod or two towards Spamalot along the way)! The medieval theme also ties in with the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta signing, which has great local significance.
January will see The Academy @ CAST perform A Christmas Carol.
The spring will see a debut production team of Sian Oxley, Lauren Sivewright and Ian Ward produce a musical tribute as they take us on a musical journey celebrating the first 25 years of CAST.
Finally, after a change to original plans, Gemma Parkyn will now direct our 2016 summer show Carpe Jugulum, based on the Terry Pratchett novel of the same name.
Jamie Hodgson, Pauline Chamberlain, Steve Oakes - Ken Howard Trophy
Pam Harvey - Sheila Botevyle Trophy
Pauline Chamberlain - Chairman's Cup
Michael Starr’s Z is for Zombie, a post-apocalyptic comedy drama won the John Rigg Trophy for Best Comedy at the 2014 Maidenhead Drama Festival along with the Frank Richards Cup for 3rd place overall at the festival. A fantastic achievement for the cast and production team in our first ever festival entry!
It's sister play, Gemma Parkyn’s eerie thriller, The Lodge in the Woods (which also received it's performance debut through CAST in April) will be competing at the Woking Drama Festival in October.
Let's hope CAST can bring back more silverware for the trophy cabinet. Good luck everyone.
Official trailers for both plays can be found below:
You can also relive the entire production process from auditions to debut performances through each director's Blog...
Dames on the Run... Some of the guys from CAST donned their running shoes on Saturday 19th October (as well as dresses, wigs, make up and eyelashes!) as they took part in Thames Hospice's latest fundraising event, Dames on the Run.
You can still sponsor Steve Oakes, Steve Bold, Steve Parkyn, Keith Hughes and Graeme Bendall online via JUST GIVING
CAST were also out in force, supporting the "girls" as well as promoting the group and their 2013 Christmas Pantomime so you may well have seen other panto characters along the route!
